Aug. 22nd, 2006 @ 04:25 pm Delaney's newest work
Come closer my child the old woman said. The young girl came without fear. She was used to this by now. Every summer evening she sat by the old woman's fire to hear stories of the olden days when there were no sweing masheins. There was only work done by hand. There were no cars, the people rode their horses or walked. Life was still this way for the old woman. She told the girl of times that were harder in ways, and easyer in ways. The young girl loved to hear the stories because thay made her feel happy and also they made her drem. She would have long dreams about the ways of the world back then. She dremed that she was there as a young indian maiden falling in love with a handsome and proud young man. That young man had dark tan skin and beutiful braided hair that wound down his back and flowed free in the wind. The girl always maried him in the dreams. She was sad when the dremes stopped and she had to go to school. She didn't even fit into that world. She didnt even care about fashin or tv shows. She only whished to be in that dream world. The old woman told her that night there was a way to be with her true love. She had to go high on a mountin alone. she had to take offerings for the birds. she had to skip meals for two days and then she would enter her dreams forever. Even through she missed her family, she knew she would. She decided to do it anyway. It was her only dream to be the young indan maiden onece again. The young girl was kind to her family and left one warm night. and never returned. She went up on the mountin with seeds and bread to give the birds. She was cold and hungry but not scared. a little bit but in her hart she was brave. On that day, a bird came right up to her and flew her away, far away, over the mountin and up into a cloud where she found the true love of her life with the briads. He was speaking a langwige she understood even thought she never spoke it with anyone. her name was lovely summer, and she lived a happy life.

Wow, that's pretty amazing for 8 years old. I hope I get the pleasure of meeting her someday.

Wow! what a great kid! Unbelieveable that someone so young can write this. I sure hope that she does not branch out into poetry, I have enought trouble keeping up with the adults.
Clearly Delaney is very special and, no doubt, your pride and joy.
